Bump knob lasts for about 50 uses Dec 20, 2008

The spool is okay, it is hard to keep the line from jamming. I'm okay with that. The bump knob is another thing. the thin layer of plastic on the edge allows the end to wear out rather quickly. No reason that it couldn't be much thicker, it was designed to wear out in about a season.
Solution: get a 3/4" dowel and work it down a bit so that it will fit in the hole tightly. Then cut the end off so 1/3" is protruding. When it wears down, just drill a hole and put a very large screw in there and pull it out. Replace and you'll have a bump knob that lasts for years.

Received the correct part from the sender in great condition, though the sender was a little slow at getting the part out. Was sent via post office, but they must have waited about 4+ days before shipping it out.
fits ryobi trimmer I have, with a slight modification Jun 04, 2008
By Michael D. Chlanda This combination bump knob and reel fits the Ryobi trimmer I have, but I had to modify it slightly, removing part of the "rubber" that went under the spring (which was a minor thing). Otherwise, works fine and cheaper than buying the two separately. [Seller did a fine job of sending]

By Frank Boekhout Far too expensive, but what are you going to do ? The machine doesn't work without the part.
