Black & Decker Replacement Spool RS-136-BKP Nov 25, 2011
By Walter D. Samans Price in stores seems a bit high considering the amount of "string" we use during the summer. Finding a multi-pack of this product was great and allows me to trim
my grass at a very reasonable rpice. Have used this vendor before and have always been completely satisfied with the results. Recommended to many friends.
Don't lose the spring or your up the creek Sep 07, 2011

I thought buying a second spool would save time. Spool and string were fine. nothing unique. However in changing the beast the pop-up spring got lost. The $1.50 spring took three weeks to find a supplier and replace. Spray the assembly with WD40 for easy operation.
Works better than manual line replacement Aug 23, 2011
By Craig Warrington I'll admit it... I tried to save a few bucks by simply rewinding my old spool with new line, but in the end it just wasn't worth it. I didn't experience many tangles, but the replacement line seemed to break much more often which is odd since it was thicker than the original line.
With this added thickness came added weight, so the head of my trimmer had a lot more vibration in it, and several times the line broke right at the point it exited the head meaning I had to stop everything - take the entire assembly apart - and then manually advance the string before putting it all back together. A few times I did this and the line would break again less than two minutes later. I was so frustrated I was ready to toss the entire trimmer, but as a last resort I ordered this replacement spool to see if it would help.
Wow - what a difference! Even though this line is much thinner it lasts much, much longer than what I had been using. Also, because the line is thinner and weighs less, there is no more vibration in the head of the trimmer.
I will admit I don't do a lot of trimming and I have a small yard, but I'm able to do my entire yard three or four times before I have to advance the line at all... so this one spool will probably last several years before I need to replace it again.
Maybe you could just buy the same diameter and quality of line and manually wind new line on to the old spool, but for the price of this replacement and knowing how well it has worked for me... I would have zero reservations about buying another one the next time I'm in need.

By Judy Pietrykowski Since I started using the prewound spools my grass trimming job has been cut in half because I don't have to keep stopping to reset the line. These are definitely worth the extra cost.
