Worst Product I've ever bought Jul 14, 2008
By Steve Baker Third pull of the starter, and the cord would not go back in. (It never did start.)
Called Ryobi - They gave me an authorized service center near me. I took it in the next business day. The service center says replacement parts are on back order, and I've been without my trimmer for over 6 weeks.
I am not be able to return this trimmer to Amazon (their policy), and Ryobi will not help. I've given up and purchased a different trimmer from Walmart.

RYOBI 30CC reconditioned trimmer May 26, 2008

I received my reconditioned trimmer and mid way through the first use the string stopped advancing. I couldn't advance it by hand even though there was plenty left. I couldn't get the spool off and it took me the rest of the day to do that. I rewound the string used it but it won't advance. This string advance head is awful it is nothing like the other RYOBI I had and if I had know how ineffective it is I wouldn't have bought this model. Nothing but frustration.

worst machine ever bought Jul 27, 2008
By G. Schrack Haven't run unit more than 2 times in a row without either replacing head or having to restring it which is very difficult. Other than that it won't start when warm.
Wound up throwing in the trash.

OK. But Not Great. Mar 27, 2008

Came with a broken spark plug which was not new. I wonder how you can recondition a trimmer without changing the spark plug? Had to go find a spark plug to fit in the trimmer before I could crank the thing up. It runs very rough and vibrates a lot at idle but does smooth out when you throttle it up. It will probably do a good job of trimming but it's not up to the quality of my old Ryobi trimmer.

Disposable - Junk May 16, 2009
By SSD I purchased this trimmer new 2.5 years ago, and from the second time I used it, it has had difficulty starting. It takes many pulls, and then has to run in choke mode for many minutes before it decides it is able to crank up without stalling. Many times it never gets that far.
Now the orange start (choke) switch has cracked. The trimmer has never been dropped or mishandled. Ryobi's answer is (and I quote - Shaina at Ryobi customer service): "It is normal for a part required to run the device to fail after 2 and a half years of normal use." Of course, it had a 2 year warranty and they do not sell just the plastic switch - they want me to buy a new carb assembly. Gee, it's only $45 plus S&H.
This is the second Ryobi string trimmer I've owned that has failed in under 3 years of normal residential use.
