Mine was perfect Oct 05, 2009

I just finished cutting down seven rows of dried cornstalks with this machete. A total of 350 feet of corn. It cut through them like a hot knife through butter. I was actually enjoying myself and cutting down corn is not one of my favorite jobs. Other machetes I have used took up to three swings to cut through one stalk. This Machete was cutting through five at one swing and was making a rather pleasant sounding ka-ching noise while doing so.
I accidentally ran the blade into the ground at least four times. The blade maintained it's sharpness. I think part of the reason this blade did so well at cutting corn is because of the way the blade was designed. When I was done with the corn I cut down four almost dry sunflower stalks. Anybody who has ever done any gardening at all knows how tough a dried sunflower stalk can be. I did run into a bit of trouble here. It took two swings to get them cut but cut them I did and I got each one cut up into several pieces.
Once the work was done I decided it was time to have some fun. We had several Zucchini's that we did not harvest in time and were slightly beyond using. Normally I would till them under to provide more organic matter for the soil. This time I whacked them with the machete before I tilled them under. I pitched them up in the air and as they came down I swung at them with this machete. It's rather satisfying to me to see the two different pieces go flying in different directions after the machete slices through them while making that ka-ching noise.
I may sound like a teenager but actually I am a 58 year old man with severe arthritis. I was having a good day today pain wise and I deeply appreciate good high quality tools that reduce my work load. If a tool is bad I say so. I hope I never lose this tool and if I do I hope Northern still has them in stock. In fact after I'm done here I think I will just go ahead and order another one just in case I do lose it.
Great for the price Apr 25, 2011
By Douglas Wells Purchased 2 of these for a FMA class. I got them with the intention of blunting them for training.
Were not sharp at all when i got them but blunted them anyway (and it took a bit of work to do).
Good steel, good weight.
Will likely buy a few more and put edges on them.
Really happy with them so far.

Don't Bother Jun 19, 2009
By M. Alba I bought this machete a few years ago. First of all, it wasn't a bolo. A few test chops and the handle broke apart. I called the company about these two points. They were very sorry and sent a new machete at no extra cost. But it was the same model, not a bolo, and the handle broke off with one swing in the air. For a while the company sent me there catalogues. The merchandise looked good but if they couldn't get this simple order right no way I would spend hundreds with the same company.
