I purchased a Poulan chainsaw about a year ago on Amazon. From now on I will never purchase any Poulan products! The chainsaw was hard to start from day one, I had to adjust the carb and set the speed to keep it running. It was by the way, a Poulan Pro 16". So, only having one blade I purchased 2 Poulan 16" no. 952051211 saw blades. I was sawing maple logs about 14" in diam. and was only able to get through 3 logs with each blade before they got too dull to cut butter. It was bad enough the saw was junk, but so were their blades.

Get the S56 sold by Mowtownusa [fulfilled by Amazon].
It has cutters on every other link; this one has cutters only on every third link .... a world of difference.

It's been one year and 8 cords of wood since I purchased the Poulan chain saw. That being said... the chain saw is great, but I have gone through 6 of these chains. The first 15-20 cuts go through like warm butter, but after that, it starts to labor and take a while to get through each log. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find another chain that works well on my saw. Once the chain saw kicks the bucket, Stihl is where I'm going. The bars are stronger and therefore do not bend and contribute to the dulling of the chains.

Poulan chain differences Apr 12, 2012

I purchased a new Poulan PP3516AVX as a smaller light weight saw for limbing/smaller diameter tree cutting so I don't have to lug around my Husky 55 Rancher on smaller jobs. The saw has been highly rated by Popular Mechanics so I hope it was a good decision. The new saw came with an Oregon chain on it with a tooth every other link (standard or full comp). The saw has a label on the handle which indicates the spare chain info as #952051211 so I purchased two spare Poulan chains from Amazon showing the same Poulan part number. Well, the new chains arrived, same part number, and have a tooth only every third link (skiptooth which is typically used on saws with 24" or longer bars). This appears to be a much cheaper chain than the Oregon which Poulan supplied with the saw. Just so people ordering spare chains are aware they are not getting what is supplied with the saw if they order this Poulan chain, at least that's what happened in my case. I have a hard time understanding why Poulan labels the saw with an inferior chain part number than what they supply the saw with. I ordered two Oregon 91VXL chains from Baileys and will return the Poulan chains to Amazon.
