This is my favorite trimmer May 30, 2011
By Susan Shoener I have a decent size yard, more than 1/3 acre, and a lot of things to trim around. I have owned this Troy bilt cordless trimmer for almost 6 years and it has worked flawlessly. I did have to replace the battery once but it is an off the shelf battery that I picked up at a battery store. Quick story, when the battery died, I went looking for a replacement trimmer but could not find the Troy bilt (Which I had bought at Lowes) and so bought a "WORX WG150 at Sears. I had figured that going to an 18 volt trimmer would be an improvement, but it was not. The Worx cordless trimmer just did not have the power that the Troy bilt had, and although I did like the automatic feed on the Worx trimmer it was just not powerful enough to get the job done. I strongly recommend the Troy-Bilt TB55 and am confident that most will find it to be an excellent replacement to their gas Trimmer.

Good for lite trimming Aug 08, 2007

"skelator"
I had this trimmer for a couple years,I Just don't like trying start those gas ones ,you know pull a million times on a foot long string that has the grunt sound and almost starts and stalls,so anyway after my weed eater brand electric smoked out I asked for 1 of theses as a Fathers Day gift and tried it out.It Is good for carrying around and not having to drag out the cords , but you learn that any thick spots such as down the edge of a driveway or you know when the grass tries to grow over the sidewalk and you try get cut it back? well those really wear out this trimmer,it good for light trimming mailboxes and on the sides of the house .but it starts loosing power quick and when trimming you need that high rpm that can really get through some thick spots .this trimmer lacks that so I had to get another corded trimmer which is a monster compared to this trimmer
Also it is heavy at the top , but for ease of use it is good for small jobs ,but don't think this is like a gas powered or a corded trimmer it simply is not

Toy Built Aug 13, 2011
By Virginia Forgatsch Troy built battery power string trimmer should be called toy built. It was purchased and used twice. The second time it seem like the motor burned out. When taken back to Lowe's their repair subcontractor said it was not repairable due to the motor burning out. Everything has a tragic flaw and this is an expensive flaw for toy built.

Finally! May 17, 2007
By NightOwl A replacement for my elderly and ailing Ryobi 150R!I tried to replace her with TWO different grass hogs but they just didn't cut it. Can only hope that now that this unit has the troy-bilt name, issues with part availability will be resolved...otherwise, it has the reach and POWER I've come to rely on in my old Ryobi to tackle two acres of nasty weeds. The 150 lives on!
