Don't Waste Your Money Jun 20, 2007
By P. Alderete
"yard hag"
I'm an older female who needs lightweight tools and keeping my yard manicured is a passion for me. I have a 0.25 acre yard so for many years I've used electric weedeaters as they are light and the cord use doesn't bother me. So when my weedeater 112 finally gave out I decided on another similar item and bought the RTE115. Boy what a letdown!
To start with, the entire thing shook as if the screws were loose but they weren't...just poor craftsmanship. The black guardpan seemed awfully big and it wobbled like crazy. The self feed mechanism never worked for me, it kept rewinding around the spool cover so every few minutes I had to turn it over and pull it out. What a crock! So I again read the manual to troubleshoot it and after following directions to cut back the line because if it was "too long" it wouldn't work properly, it still did the same thing.
In a huff put it away after several attempts at trimming. 2 days later I decided to try it again....maybe it was me? But no such luck. This thing was not going to cooperate at all. It made more noise than it did anything. Same line feed problems, same wobbly piece of junk.
so I'm looking for another weedeater 112 model.

What a piece..... of poop. Sep 11, 2006

If "Automatic Centrex Head" is the proper name for a head has no ability to automatically dispense trimmer line, then it is aptly named. With the factory installed spool, the line broke CONSTANTLY, every 30 to 60 sec, and as a each time the snagged on itself and coiled up around the shaft, necessitating a disassembly of the head in order to manually extricate the "automatically dispensed" line.... which as another reviewer noted, always seemed to be too much.
After putting up with this nonsense for longer than i should have, I launched this piece into a brick wall. Several times. Had to salvage some satisfaction from the experience.

Don't waste your money, time or saftey Oct 01, 2006

Today is the 3rd time I've used this weed eater. The first two times I really thought I had something good. Today, though, it started cutting out, then smoke poured from the handle where it was plugged in to the outdoor heavy duty extension cord. Thank God I hadn't left it alone, or plugged in in my garage. Instead of getting a bargain, I now not only am out the money for a weed eater, but a $40 outdoor extension cord as well. A gas powered, loud, exhaust spewing trimmer would have been cheaper and safer. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best, this is a -10.

Weedeaters are great, but don't buy this one! Jul 01, 2007
By Postal worker Bought the new RTE115C in March 2007, used it for the first time on Jul 1 and was looking forward to an auto feed line vice the tapngo. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. I spent more time pulling the cord out or waiting for the cord to autofeed than I spent using the darn thing. I am so disgusted with this weedeater I could just spit. For goodness sake, does anyone have a great recommendation for a medium sized weedeater that's easy and fun to use?

Junk Jun 08, 2007
By John Total junk. I bought it thinking I was getting a great combo edger and trimmer. In retrospect, it turns out you really don't need a combo - just flip the trimmer over and voila you have an edger. I should have returned it and gotten my money back when I noticed that the entire shaft assembly was loose (right out of the box). However, I persevered with it for 2 seasons. This spring the plastic weed guard cracked and fell off. Then it just stopped working - most likely a short in the electrical. I'm going with Huskvarna or Troy-bilt this next time around.
